HMO Wellness is pleased to present a conversation with Dr. Ruth Sacks who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology and a clinical member of the Glenn Family Breast Center and the comprehensive care team treating head, neck, and thoracic malignancies at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sacks shares her story about being drawn into medicine as a way to connect with people, hear their stories and help them meet their own goals for health and wellness. Several mentors through her training were instrumental in demonstrating how to build trusting relationships with patients and families, especially people who have multiple stressors in addition to managing cancer. Although her parents are in south Florida, and Miami has lovely vistas, Dr. Sacks speaks of her appreciation for Atlanta’s green space as a venue for taking care of her own wellbeing.
