Our Stories Ep. 15 (Nisha Joseph, MD)

Episode Summary

The HMO Wellness Program is delighted to present an interview with Dr Nisha Joseph MD, who is a specialist in plasma cell disorders, malignant hematology and bone marrow transplant as well as the co-director of the Winship Summer Scholars Program. https://winshipcancer.emory.edu/education/summer-scholars/ Dr. Joseph’s path to medicine began as a young girl growing up surrounded by men and women physicians, including her grandmother who was the only woman in her medical school class. There were times she was not sure she would follow their footsteps into medicine, but the science combined with opportunity for patient care and education proved to be just the right fit for Dr Joseph. The experience watching her father go through a bone marrow transplant gave a lasting appreciation of what families deal with when a loved one has cancer. During the pandemic Dr. Joseph has found ways to manage stress, both at home with her new puppy but also in her work given the joy she finds in patient care and education of all learners, including the enthusiastic, talented students who participate in the Winship Summer Scholars Program. Enjoy the interview!
